I remember people who went to the KH when I did who seemed to be trying to work the system. They wouldn't get baptised so they couldn't get df'd and they figured if they died they before armageddon they'd be resurrected. Witnesses believe that if you die at armageddon and are not a JW you've had it and that is why they go door to door. However when you look at the amount of time most of them put in the preaching work now I don't think they really believe it is just around the corner anymore. It is just something they are expected to do.

Looking for some insight! Did you believe ignorance = resurrection?
by free2beme ini have been out of the religion for a long time and sometimes things come up and i kind of get reminded of something i had not thought about for awhile.
a couple weeks ago, my mother and father-in-law were over at our home having dinner.
we were commenting about my father-in-laws dad dying last year and my mother-in-law said, "well he will be with us again in the new system.

Hi I quit! What have u been up to? Thank you for asking. I have fixing a house up to sell. That took forever (at least the way I do it). Losing my job. Finding another one. Fixing up my yard and planting a garden and a lot of other things that kept me from posting. Also I can only take so much JW nonsense and I have to get away from it. My wife is out of town at her assembly so I have some time so here I am.

Holidays in our country
by Lady Lee ini have noticed a few times that not all countries celebrate their holidays on the same day as canada or the us.
canadians have a better knowledge of the american holidays because we tend to watch many american tv shows.. some holidays are the same where ever you live.
but a lot are different, like mother's day.. so for the benefit of all what are the holidays your country or state/province celebrates?.

Royal Albert is still around. You can get "Old Country Rose" and other patterns at most department stores. My sister has collected it for years. A lot of it is now made in China or other countries in the far east.
There is a book on Johnson Brothers available at Amazon.com. I think it is called Johnson Bros Dinnerware or something like that. I was thinking of getting it myself but never got around to it. What pattern of Johnson Bros. do you have? My wife and I have pretty much a full set of the Friendly Village. It seems to be getting harder to find and the newer stuff is now being made in China. I'm not sure they even exist anymore as company manufacturing in England. Someone may have just bought the rights to the patterns and the name. To my knowledge Johnson Brothers never has had a website and it has alway been hard to get any information on them. The Limoges is French and might be worth something.
One more thing I noticed on the Johnson Bros. The pieces we purchased even a few years ago say "Made in England". The newer pieces come in boxes that say "Made in China" but it doesn't say that on the China itself. On the China it says "Johnson Bros England" but doesn't say where it was made. I'm sure that there will be people selling these pieces in antiques shops as English antiques. I guess the US isn't the only country that doesn't make anything anymore.

Tree-worshipping, Protestant pagan...
by Super_Becka in... and damn proud of it!!.
if that's what celebrating christmas with my family and friends makes me, then i wouldn't have it any other way!!
i consider myself a christian, a pure-bred anglican (church of england, which is protestant, so i agree with at least part of that title i've been granted by sweetscholar), but if celebrating the holidays with the people that mean the most to me makes me a tree-worshipping pagan, then i guess that's what i am.. merry christmas everyone!!.

JW dead at 83- duped for his entire life
by moshe ini saw an obituary last week- and elder i knew from the beginning had died- a faithful jw dub to the end.. he was baptised in 1939. his parents were part of the russell movement and died claiming to be annointed.
i just wondered how anyone could spend his entire life being duped by the watchtower propaganda.
i left so many tracts at his kh in 1989-90, that they posted a guard in the parking lot to keep me from hand billing the cars.

I have an 83 year old dub in my family so I can relate. My emotions change toward old dubs. At times I feel anger at them for being so stupid and for spending their life trying to suck others into the foolishness. At other times I feel sorry for them because they are after all brainwash. Other times I amazed that someone can live so long and learn nothing. They are living proof the Watchtower hasn't a clue about what is going on. You'd think at some point they would catch on.
